The Whiteweld Foundation The Whiteweld Foundation Concert Series presents legendary artist Burt Bacharach live at Lincoln Center

Concert is a Fund-Raiser to Benefit Children’s Charities

NEW YORK, NY – The Whiteweld Foundation Concert Series presents Burt Bacharach and a 30-piece orchestra, live, in concert at Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center, on Saturday, September 18, 2004 at 8:00 PM. Sultry gospel sensation Oleta Adams will also be performing. The concert is a fund-raiser with proceeds to benefit a number of children’s charities. This show follows a series of successful musical events sponsored by The Whiteweld Foundation, a charitable foundation dedicated to promoting the health, education, and welfare of children throughout the world.

Burt Bacharach is one of the most accomplished composers of the 20th Century. He has collaborated with noteworthy artists such as Dionne Warwick, Elvis Costello, Barbara Streisand and dozens more. Over fifty of his compositions have become top 40 hits. Many of Burt’s songs have become synonymous with popular soundtracks and commercials. Some of these hits include “Magic Moments,” “Rain Drops Keep Falling On My Head,” and “What the World Needs Now.”

Born the youngest daughter of a minister in Yakima, Washington, Oleta Adams’ first singing experience was in the church choir. By the age of eleven, she had already established herself as a piano prodigy, directing and accompanying four choirs. Discovered by Tears for Fears, Oleta’s powerful gospel and R&B voice won her the chance to be featured on their Seeds of Love Album. Her 1990 debut album, Circle of One, was produced by Tears for Fears member Roland Orzabal, and included the hit “Get Here.” Other recordings include 1993’s Evolution, 1995’s Movin On, and 1997’s Come Walk with Me.

The mission of The Whiteweld Foundation is to help charities fund vital educational and cultural programs, as well as civic events assisting children. James J. Bovino, a principal founder of Whiteweld, Barrister & Brown, founded the Whiteweld Foundation in 2003. The Foundation donates funds in the form of grants to local and national charitable organizations to provide educational and cultural opportunities for children throughout the world. The Whiteweld Foundation Concert Series was created as a way to ‘give back to the community’ by offering patrons an evening of great entertainment while raising money to benefit important charities.

John Johnson, President and Managing Director of The Whiteweld Foundation, says, “We are delighted to have such incredibly talented artists performing at this benefit. And it is an amazing feeling to be able to help so many underprivileged children. Together we will continue to heighten awareness of the Foundation’s efforts to promote events that support children’s charities.”
